About The Author

Davidson Loehr

Davidson Loehr has been a Renaissance Man—or just a guy who never grew up. Professional musician, graduate of the Army’s best NCO academy and artillery Officer Candidate School. When he arrived in Vietnam, he was made the Vietnam Entertainment Officer, working with all the USO shows. After a few months, he felt cowardly and ashamed because all his OCS classmates were serving in combat units.

Stories of Life: The Nature, Formation and Consequences of Character

Heresy comes from a Greek word meaning “to choose.” Heresy is often the path of those who choose the road less traveled. Davidson claims that heresy is about the only place where the holy spirit can be found. The religion of the priests is almost always orthodox. The religion of the prophets is always heretical, choosing better stories and more demanding paths. It’s the only religion worthy of the name, Davidson says.

Character refers to our basic style of being and behaving. We’re born with much of it, while early experiences, influences, and mentors help shape the rest.

Hollow Gods: Why Liberalism Became a Destructive Religion

A combination of Kahlil Gibran and Dr. Phil, theologian and lifelong liberal Davidson Loehr brings a much-needed clarity to the reasons that liberalism has done such deep harm to areas including education, the media, politics, race relations and religion.

The problem in all five areas is the fact that for two centuries, liberals have been sloughing off biblical religion with its supernatural God and mythical eternity in Heaven. But with what do you replace heavenly eternity and an omniscient God who loves you? For two hundred years, liberals have sought to replace heaven with a utopian socialism here and now, in which only they are in charge. Such a utopia would require the wisdom of an omniscient God. In place of that, liberals have put their own exalted, diploma’d, wisdom. Only degreed liberals are smart enough to replace God. But no, they don’t have wisdom-only arrogance and a desperate lust for power to replace the respect they can’t earn from other citizens.

America, Fascism, And God: Sermons from a Heretical Preacher

Religion and politics have always been a potent mix. History is littered with times when that combination caused sweeping death and destruction, when it fueled aggression and oppression–and when it gave fascism a religious and diplomatic face.
Reverend Davidson Loehr is afraid that we may be living in such a time in America today. On the Sunday following the election on November 2, 2004, Loehr, a liberal minister in Texas, delivered a sermon titled “Living Under Fascism”–a sermon that spread like wildfire through the Internet. “I mean to persuade you that the style of governing into which America has slid is most accurately described as fascism, and that the necessary implications of this fact are rightly regarded as terrifying,” the preacher told his congregation. “. . . and even if I don’t persuade you, I hope to raise the level of your thinking about who and where we are now.”

America, Fascism, And God: Sermons from a Heretical Preacher

As Garrison Keillor wrote in Home Grown Democrat, gadfly preacher, Loehr, puts plain sense into plain language.

            A Reader

America, Fascism, And God: Sermons from a Heretical Preacher

This is among the best, and also among the most distressing and depressing books I have ever read on what's wrong with America today.

America, Fascism, And God: Sermons from a Heretical Preacher

This book is over 10 years old and it is almost as fresh as it was when I read it back when it was first published. I suggested this book to a highly educated friend and his comments are the same as mine.

America, Fascism, And God: Sermons from a Heretical Preacher

I purchased this book for a friend, a retired Unitarian minister who knew the author. He was most pleased with the book.

America, Fascism, And God: Sermons from a Heretical Preacher

I first heard Davidson speak when he was the interim minister at Unity-Unitarian church in St Paul. My wife and I were looking for (and found) a great community there, due in no small part to Mr Loehr's sermons.

America, Fascism, And God: Sermons from a Heretical Preacher

This book America, Fascism, And God: Sermons from a Heretical Preacher is intelligently written and forces one to think about the elements that provide the foundation of thought.

America, Fascism, And God: Sermons from a Heretical Preacher

This is an amazing book with very clear, concise, and compelling messages (say that 10 times fast). It has made me think twice about the way I live my life even though I consider myself to be a liberal.

            Thomas R. Benson

America, Fascism, And God: Sermons from a Heretical Preacher

With the minimum of words, Rev. Loehr has managed to describe such topics as fascism in America in a way that gives urgency for decent people to stand and be counted. The barbarians within our own culture are making their move.

            Anthony Di Novi

America, Fascism, And God: Sermons from a Heretical Preacher

Loehr provides clarity in a time when confusion and duplicity seem to be the weapons of choice by those that are presently waging war on our cultural, religious and political system.

            **Here’sy to You**

Davidson’s Heretical Insights into politics, religion and life

It seems that Democrats aren’t allowed to think or question, just to obey the party line—the line that lost them the election and will lose more if they can’t change it. If Trump really succeeds in championing “common sense” government, Republicans will be hard to defeat. Ever. Are any thinking Democrats really opposed to keeping men out of women’s sports? These so-called “trans women” are only women in their mind, their imagination, their spirit. But their body is male: XY, penis, etc., no matter what they think. Otherwise, what if they think they’re Martians? What if they think they’re the...
