Hollow Gods
Hollow Gods: Why Liberalism Became a Destructive Religion
A combination of Kahlil Gibran and Dr. Phil, theologian and lifelong liberal Davidson Loehr brings a much-needed clarity to the reasons that liberalism has done such deep harm to areas including education, the media, politics, race relations and religion.
The problem in all five areas is the fact that for two centuries, liberals have been sloughing off biblical religion with its supernatural God and mythical eternity in Heaven. But with what do you replace heavenly eternity and an omniscient God who loves you? For two hundred years, liberals have sought to replace heaven with a utopian socialism here and now, in which only they are in charge. Such a utopia would require the wisdom of an omniscient God. In place of that, liberals have put their own exalted, diploma’d, wisdom. Only degreed liberals are smart enough to replace God. But no, they don’t have wisdom-only arrogance and a desperate lust for power to replace the respect they can’t earn from other citizens.
America, Fascism, And God: Sermons from a Heretical Preacher
As Garrison Keillor wrote in Home Grown Democrat, gadfly preacher, Loehr, puts plain sense into plain language.
America, Fascism, And God: Sermons from a Heretical Preacher
This is among the best, and also among the most distressing and depressing books I have ever read on what's wrong with America today.
America, Fascism, And God: Sermons from a Heretical Preacher
This book is over 10 years old and it is almost as fresh as it was when I read it back when it was first published. I suggested this book to a highly educated friend and his comments are the same as mine.
America, Fascism, And God: Sermons from a Heretical Preacher
I purchased this book for a friend, a retired Unitarian minister who knew the author. He was most pleased with the book.
America, Fascism, And God: Sermons from a Heretical Preacher
I first heard Davidson speak when he was the interim minister at Unity-Unitarian church in St Paul. My wife and I were looking for (and found) a great community there, due in no small part to Mr Loehr's sermons.
America, Fascism, And God: Sermons from a Heretical Preacher
This book America, Fascism, And God: Sermons from a Heretical Preacher is intelligently written and forces one to think about the elements that provide the foundation of thought.
America, Fascism, And God: Sermons from a Heretical Preacher
This is an amazing book with very clear, concise, and compelling messages (say that 10 times fast). It has made me think twice about the way I live my life even though I consider myself to be a liberal.
America, Fascism, And God: Sermons from a Heretical Preacher
With the minimum of words, Rev. Loehr has managed to describe such topics as fascism in America in a way that gives urgency for decent people to stand and be counted. The barbarians within our own culture are making their move.
America, Fascism, And God: Sermons from a Heretical Preacher
Loehr provides clarity in a time when confusion and duplicity seem to be the weapons of choice by those that are presently waging war on our cultural, religious and political system.
